What Pokemon Cards Sold This Week (May 19-26)

Each week, I’ll be taking a look at the top selling items on eBay in various categories. This week we’re looking at Pokemon cards that sold from May 19th to the 26th. The top selling items in quantity were sealed products from the brand new set Twilight Masquerade, 1999 Base Set singles, and Scarlet and Violet 151 singles.

Most Sold Pokemon Cards of the Week

With 51 sales over the past week, the Chansey Art Rare (AR) from the Japanese Scarlet and Violet Mask of Change set was trending. At a price just under 4 dollars, a single listing has sold 552 copies already!

Also with 51 sales, the Eevee Black Star Promo #SWSH190 had quite a week. For a $2 card, this one has really taken off. Of course, Eevee and its evolutions are always major targets for collectors. 133 have sold from a single eBay listing.

The big hit from the English Obsidian Flames set is selling even better in Japanese, thanks to a lower price point around $10. There were 50 sales of the Charizard EX Shiny #331/190 from the Shiny Treasure EX set. 411 copies have sold from a single seller, the same as the Chansey AR.

Other honorable mentions between 38-41 sales this week: Electabuzz #46 Black Star Promo, Infernape Art Rare from Japanese Crimson Haze, and the Tatsugiri Art Rare from Japanese Mask of Change.

Most Expensive Sales of Pokemon Cards on eBay This Week

For just shy of $14,000, the most expensive Pokemon card sale this week was a PSA 10 example signed by the artist of the Crystal Charizard from the Skyridge set. The second greatest sale was a BGS 10 Black Label Latias & Latios GX Team Up Alternate Art card for $11,000. Third, was a PSA 10 example of the Pikachu & Zekrom card from the Japanese 25th Anniversary Creatures Inc deck that features Corporate History information on the back. It sold for $9,800, which it appears was a best offer.

Other notable sales include a BGS 9 Shadowless Ninetales ($9000), a PSA 6 Base Set 1st Edition Charizard ($6500), a POP 1 2000 Topps Chrome Series 2 Sparkle Gengar ($5600), ad a PSA 10 Dragonite Holo from Fossil ($5,000). There were also a number of other 1st Edition Charizard cards in various conditions selling around $5000 – $7000.

Clearly, the Japanese Art Rares have proven even more collectible than the English ones. The lower price points certainly are a factor. Charizard is still as popular as ever in the market, clearly, and it’s nice to see the Wizards of the Coast era cards still get so much love in the midst of a modern boom led by the Sword and Shield sets.

I plan to do more in depth research about the hottest Pokemon cards on the market and other hot non sports cards over the next few months. Let us know if there’s a certain topic you’d like us to cover in future installments of What Sold on Ebay This Week.
